Let's tie a Double Surgeon’s Knot.
Ideal for connecting two pieces of line of similar diameters, this knot is the fastest way to extend a leader in a pinch.
To get started, we'll overlap our two lines by a few inches. Next, we twist our two lines in order to form a loop where to the two lines continue running parallel to one another. Grabbing our tag end from our standing line and the main section of our working line, we'll wrap the two strands around the loop twice, following the direction of our original twist.
From here, we pull all four strands of our line, closing the loop and cinching the knot down tight. Lastly we can trim the two tag ends, making sure to avoid the line we want to keep.
If your knot looks like this, you've successfully tied a Double Surgeon’s Knot.
